Hocus Pocus Cosplay Stirs Up Trouble For Halloween

These witchy cosplayers from the classic Halloween movie are ready to cause some mischief.

New York Comic Con may not be having an in-person event this year, but we are gearing up for their virtual comic con known as Metaverse in less than a week! NYCC will be going completely online this year and will be free to attend. Most panels will be free to watch on the NYCC YouTube channel and will have a plethora of content for four days from October 8-11.

The Cosplay Central Championships of Cosplay, powered by SYFY WIRE, will be premiering on NYCC's YouTube on Saturday, October 10th, at 2:40pm ET. While we eagerly wait for this year's competition, we are highlighting some of the competitors from the 2019 Championships.

The three cosplayers all dressed up for New York Comic Con's Championships of Cosplay. Pepper Monster cosplayed Sarah Sanderson, Tom Catt as Winifred Sanderson, and Canvas Cosplay as Mary Sanderson. Both Canvas Cosplay and Pepper Monster came together to help cheer on Tom Catt, who was a contestant in the 2019 competition.

Tom Catt's costume took a year to construct and features many new learning techniques for the cosplayer such as millinery and laser cutting. The garment was constructed with a metallic satin fabric featuring hand painted tribal designs. The Zulu inspired hat was made using a combination of cardboard, Worbla, metallic satin and leather. The earrings were hand painted on custom cut Worbla. The shoulder mantle design was hand drawn in Photoshop, made into a vector file through illustrator, and finally laser cut onto Worbla. The patterns for all the different pieces were built from scratch.

These three witches definitely don't want to be messed with around Halloween!

Be sure to keep an eye out for more of our cosplay features and get ready to party at NYCC's Metaverse on their YouTube channel running October 8-11. For a complete list of panels, be sure to check out FindTheMetaverse.com.
